More Than
Project Management
OverviewThe Sydney University Project Management Society (PMSoc) is the only student society representing project management at the University of Sydney, and the official student society of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Sydney Chapter.
PMSoc draws its membership directly from the School of Project Management, the first school in the world dedicated solely to the discipline, and a cohort of over 1,200 students of whom 72% are studying at master's level. The majority are concentrated in construction and built environment, which together account for 51% of the cohort, with further representation across marketing, international business and business information systems.
Since re-establishing in 2023, PMSoc has grown into one of the most active professional societies on campus, with 850+ members, a committee of over 40 students, and 18 events delivered each year. In 2025, the University recognised this work with the Dave Burnett Large Club Award, which celebrates dedication to the community and the contribution of our team. We work closely with the School of Project Management, which supports the society, and with the University of Sydney Union.
